Sony have once again revised their Blu-ray Disc schedule with many titles now pushed back and some simply shuffled about in the June-August schedule. With the first discs and player now available to buy we have also endeavoured to bring you the full disc specs on all announced titles which can be found by following the links through to the individual announcements. Is there any word on extras? Will they like HD-DVD have the DVD extras? I presume like HD-DVD theyll all be 1080p too? Thats backwards compatible right? What about to SD? As with HD-DVD itll be down to the player what output options you get, obviously there will be a choice of HD resolutions but Im not sure about SD. I heard a rumour that blu-ray had already lost the fight and maybe several people backing blu-ray have now defected to HD-DVD, anyone know anything about this? Consider the fact Sony own one of the largest film libraries with their acquisition of MGM and its clear that Blu-ray isnt going anywhere for as long as Sony are willing to back the format. Also consider that Sony always seem to lose out on format wars. UMD okay so its not warring with anything else, but its failed miserably! MiniDisc was quite a popular format for recording onto I still have a rarely-used MD Walkman but did anyone ever buy pre-recorded MiniDiscs? There hardly seemed to be any titles available, except possibly for Phil Collins and Sting fans. I think it was a pretty monumental failure in that respect.
